Practical Death Dealer...

As you start to follow this blog you'll realize, we are practical guys.  If (more when actually) the End of our time starts with Zombies or other hard to kill nasties we want a firearm that is just like us.  Ease of use is key, I want it to fire EVERY time whether its dirty or clean.  Loading and unloading should be a breeze and finding various types of ammo should be next to simple.
I've thought long and hard about this rain maker and I can only come up with one gun that sums that up...a 12 GA pump-action shotgun; Remington, Mossberg, Winchester...the brand isn't a huge deal, but what counts is its ability to fire accurately from 3 yards to 100 yards with various types of shells to accomplish this.

Take a Slug for example...one solid hunk of lead hitting your target at 1050 - 1750 FPS.  Or my personal favorite is using waterfowl rounds, 1700 FPS of BBB or T shot packs quite a punch.  So moving on past ammo...they are easy to clean, with simple disassembly and more or less just the barrel needing a good swabbing and whipping down the steel with Rem-oil or the similar.  I could go on for hours...but my gun of choice would (and is) be a Remington, 18" barrel, 2 shot magazine extension, and additional rounds being carried on the stock.
The aftermarket for any shotgun is limitless from the tactical minded to the sneaky pistol-grip wielding turkey blasters.  Two sites the come to mind would be..Tactical Shotgun Accessories or Mesa Tactical; they both cater to these weapons and have a decent little collection of goodies.  Or simply hit up google by searching Tactical Shotgun Accessories.
In the days and weeks to come we will surely be posting other guns, bows, knives, and various weapons, so if this doesn't dig your fancy... stick around, we'll find something that does.  And hopefully soon we'll be showing tests and comparisons (that will be fun).    Post your comments with thoughts/concerns/contradictions, we want you to tell us what you think, we are all in this predicament together.

  2. P90 really isn't that practical of a weapon, it takes meticulous cleaning and considering it shoots a 5.7x28mm round it's lacking two things. Stopping power and availability of ammunition. The 5.7x28mm is not a common round. My ultimate Zombie killing rifle would be an AR-15 variant with 7.62x39mm upper (with a piston system, not direct impingement). There are a lot of reasons I like this system. One, its accurate. Two, it's powerful. Three, the common 7.62x39mm(AK round) is readily available and easy to find. Four, you have high capacity magazines which means less reloading and more neutralizing of the threat with greater ease, not to mention greater distances. Also the great thing about AR's is that EVERYONE makes parts for them and they are like legos. I could go on but, I think you get the point
